Expat Instagrams & Expat Blogs to Follow in 2025

Our family has lived abroad on and off since 2012. We lived in Ukraine, Georgia, Germany (2 separate times), and now Turkey. Being an expat gives you a unique perspective. It is a huge learning experience. Most of the time we relish in the new experiences we get to have, but there are challenges too. It isn’t easy adapting to a culture that’s not your own.

Through our time as expats, we’ve connected with so many others who are living a similar experience. We love the expat community online, it’s been so helpful for me to be able to have friends across the globe who can relate to my life as an expat mom. It’s fun to get a glimpse of what it is like to live abroad in different corners of the globe by reading expat blogs and following expat Instagram pages.

Are you an expat yourself and looking to grow your expat community?

Are you curious what it would be like to live in a different country?

Do you love travel, and want an expat blog to help you plan from a local perspective?

Then you NEED to check out this list of Expat Blogs & Instagrams to follow!

Below is a list of (mostly) American expats but also expats from a variety of countries living abroad. The list is organized into expats by country.

This expat list is a great way to build connections and find people who you can use as a resource whether you’re planning to move abroad or just travel to that specific country.

If you prefer to find this complete list on Instagram, you can find it in my “Expats” highlight. Don’t forget to save this post so you can come back to it and follow all these great accounts when your’re ready!

Elisabeth is taking advantage of life abroad with her family, follow along for their adventures!

Elisabeth-American Expat in Spain (Sanlucar de Barrameda)

@thedombrowway

My journey started when I studied abroad in Austria and had to figure out how to live overseas - that was before smart phones and really even cell phones. I got a job as a civilian on the military base in Germany for a few years and then moved to Alaska where I met my husband - an Air Force pilot. We then preceded to move to Charleston, Dubai, Tacoma and then Atlanta. Then we lived in Germany and Spain and will be back in Germany again this fall. I’m working on getting better at posting, but mostly I just post about our family and trips we take and fun pictures I take of where we travel. Love living overseas and showing our kids the world.

Jill-American Expat in Thailand (Chiang Mai)

@family.ofdreamers

We are a family of four who left behind the 9-5 grind and mounting financial struggles in the US to embark on a bold move to Chiang Mai, Thailand. Tired of living to work, we sought a more intentional lifestyle where we could focus on our family and personal growth. With our two daughters, we faced the challenges of adapting to a new culture while building a home far from loved ones. While there have been moments of doubt along with some tears we are working together to make this new lifestyle work while doing our best to educate our family, friends and followers.

Heather-American Expat formerly in Tunisia, Taiwan, Latvia, & China

@ferretingoutthefun

Thanks to my spouse's job, I've been fortunate to live in multiple countries across three continents. This has made it possible to travel farther and explore deeper than this small-town gal ever dreamed. But I want to really get to know the places visit, not just tick a box to say I've been there. So I do a ton of research before my trips, looking for the best restaurants, museums, attractions, and cultural activities that make each destination special. If you like to geek out over local food, history, and art, let's be friends!

After meeting as college physics lab partners and marrying shortly after, my husband and I began a life of adventure together. We have welcomed 4 children and lived all across the United States and abroad. When our oldest was 3 years old, she started waking up each morning and asking us, "where are we going today?" Thus began the journey of documenting our adventures together. Travel is our favorite family activity and we love connecting with other families over social media to share tips and ideas of how to make the most of adventuring with kids!
